SPECIAL GUEST: ALAM (MY)

Having always been obsessed with music, Alam decided to push himself by testing the waters of his musical inspiration. Today, this DJ/Producer has made a name for himself, dropping his signature house sets along the way. Not only is he one of the backbones behind Obsession Events, he has also definitely proven himself, as he is considered as one of the prominent new generation of Djs firing up the Local and International clubbing scene. Alam has always been upfront with what he does; showing his versatility by mixing different forms of style and genre, with his smooth blends of house music, to his unique selection of electronic percussive techfunk tunes. Regardless, he manages to deliver an experience of sound, which always leaves the crowd with wanting more.

Since beginning his career 9 years ago, Alam has held up residencies at The Backroom*KL (Kuala Lumpur’s premier underground club), Viva Dance Club, Nouvo and Bliss (TwelveSI). His full time residency at Carlos saw him host his own nights: ‘Resonance’ and ‘Residential’. Since 2005, Alam has continued to garner attention by playing his signature sounds in Melbourne, Australia. He has quickly built up a following through his residencies at clubs such as Seven Nightclub, Eleven A, and Platform One. Alam also began to spread his Obsession trademark in a weekly night at The Decorum, which then led to starting his own successful night at one of Melbourne’s forefront nightclub - Room680. Kl Beatz was a new night he created, showcasing Malaysia’s hidden talents and redirecting a fresh approach to the Melbourne dance music scene.

Not only has Alam held residencies at clubs in Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, he has also had the opportunity to grace the decks at clubs such as Zouk (MAL), Echo (MAL), QBH (AUS), The Metro (AUS), Embassy (INA), Brown Alley (AUS), Palace Entertainment Complex (AUS), Velvet Underground (MAL), C02 (INA), Stadium (INA), Ffour (AUS) and that’s only to name a few. Alam has also had the privilege of supporting world-wide events such as Yoshitoshi In House We Trust Tour 2003, Resident Advisor Asia Tour 2003, Gatecrasher World Tour 2003, Gatecrasher 10yrs with a Vengeance Tour 2004, Nascent Thinking Out Loud Tour 2004, Slinky Australia Tour 2006, Darkbeat Melbourne, Pretty Simple, Stable Music & The Melbourne Techno Collective.

Alam has played alongside International artists – Desyn Masiello (UK), Nick Warren (UK), Paolo Mojo (UK), Steve Gerrard (UK), Hybrid (UK), Fergie (UK), Slam (UK), Silicone Soul (UK), Matt Hardwick (UK), John ‘00’ Fleming (UK), Anne Savage (UK), Scott Bond (UK), X-Press 2 (UK), Mike Monday (UK), Audiojack (UK), Spencer Parker (UK), Paul Woolford (UK), Cass (UK), Skool of Thought (UK), Sanjay Mistrry (UK), Satoshi Tomiie (JPN), Kazu Kimura (JPN), Luke Fair (CAN), John Selway (USA), Ariel Cybana (USA), Airwave (SWZ), Guy J (ISR), Dubfunk (EGY), Juan Diaz (ESP), Eric Entrena (ESP), Roland Appel (GER), Chris Tietjen (GER), H.O.S.H. On the production side, his tracks, Repeat the Lines and Filthy Days have been played by various DJs around the South-East Asia to Australia regions.

Regularly playing in both Kuala Lumpur & Melbourne throughout the year, this takes as a task to broaden his musical influences to create fresh & unique, cutting-edge sounds which leaves him having full control when connecting with the audience. There is still much more to come, as this is only the beginning of another musical chapter as Alam takes his career to higher levels, when he continues to deliver his distinctive sounds gradually across the global dance music culture.

MELT @ LUSH, Ho Chi Minh City [17 OCTOBER 2009]

Saigon is a hot city, especially at night... this night we'll turn LUSH into the coolest club in town with the largest ICED event you've ever seen at this venue. Throughout the night, THREE of the finest DJs in town will slowly be heating things up with blazing EDM and house beats.

• DJ DREW (Romania, inside area) - a top talent at the decks and always in demand to play at the hottest venues in town!
• DJ MARK (UK, inside area) - as resident at LUSH, he always knows how to make people dance and have a great time!
• DJ DEZZ (Malaysia, back area) - our very first OutInSaigon.com DJ is back and better than ever!

TWO areas, one inside with 2 DJs on stage raving the crowd and raising the temperature! 1 DJ in the back area playing minimal house music for people to cool down a bit.

ONE spectacular event! With steaming dry ice, impressive ice sculptures, red and blue laser lights, a HUGE disco ball, special drinks mixed in gigantic ice cubes, and as always thousands of glow sticks! The first 300 guests will be welcomed with a Grey Goose shot, our main sponsor of the night.

EVOLUTION #016 with special guest, TERENCE C (MY) [10 OCTOBER 2009]

Tune into EVOLUTION on UB RADIO, Bangkok's premier internet radio station for two hours of non-stop, back to back Electronics Dance Music with DEZZ.

Enjoy the first hour mix by DEZZ, follow by a special guest mix on the second hour of the each show.

This week we have a special guest, TERENCE C (MALAYSIA)

WHEN: Bi-monthly on Saturday

DATE: 10TH OCTOBER 2009

SPECIAL GUEST: TERENCE C (MALAYSIA)

At the tender age of 11, Terence was moved by what he saw on the silver screen during a showing of a little old movie called Breakin’. Though Ozone & Turbo’s lockin’ and poppin’ impressed him, he was totally blown away by what the guys behind the decks were doing to spur those two on. Thus was planted the seed of inspiration for his life work.

Terence began his actual DJ’ing career in 1998 at Echo KL, where he started learning the ropes under the tutelage of veteran DJ Chris Doss. Progressing rapidly, he then notched up further residencies in KL at Cubeat and Globar, where his renowned seven-hour sets on weekends earned him praise from many as the “hardest-working DJ in town”.

He continued his career ascendancy by becoming a resident of the legendary Movement in 2000. Still looked upon as one of the pivotal clubs in the KL dance scene. He has also performed in nearly every club in KL, including The Backroom, Emporium, Nouvo, and Atmosphere, as well as venturing out regionally to such clubs as Lush in Singapore and Liquid Club in Ho Chi Minh City. He has played alongside with many internationally acclaimed DJs performing in Southeast Asia, including Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Chicane, Omid 16b, Matthew Dekay, John Digweed and Anthony Pappa, to name just a paltry few.

2004 saw Terence joining the newest local clubbing institution Zouk KL, spreading his inimitable brand of music during the club’s regular “Push” nights while doubling up as a VJ as well. However his most significant achievement thus far came a year later when he teamed up with fellow artists Callen Tham and Didjital to form the Altered Image collective and they went on to grab the coveted 2005 Heineken Thirst Malaysia championship by a considerable margin.

The natural progression will see Terence take on the helm of full time VJ in the newly re-launched Zouk. The plethora of LED screens, plasma screens, lighting effects will allow Terence to take the crowds on a visual journey along with the DJs. Rumour has it that he is even developing sets as a DVJ incorporating music and visuals at the same time. All we can say is watch this space!
